Nania FC reached their first-ever FA Cup final in emphatic style by edging out Berekum Chelsea on penalties to set up a grand final date on June 26.

The defeat scuttles Chelsea hopes of an ambitions double after sealing the premiership title weeks ago.

But the Division One League side had different ideas on the day at the Baba Yara Stadium as they twice came from behind to tie the semi-final game before dumping out their opponents 5-3 during the penalty lottery.

There was only ever likely to be one winner with Chelsea coasting to the finals when they were undone by a stoppage time equaliser through a fine curler by Yakubu Musah.

And during the penalty kicks, goalkeeper Michael Sai converted the fifth kick to send Nania through after he had blocked Bismark Idan's kick.

Obed Owusu opened the scoring after he struck a 30 yard effort into the far corner of Sai's post in the 24th minute.

But three minutes later, Nania drew level from the spot after Paul Aidoo had felled George Wellington. Prince Baffoe scored the resultant kick to send the game into the break at 1-1.

Both sides failed to score in the second half as the game headed into extra time.

In the second half of extra-time, Idan tapped in from close range after the Nania goalkeeper had tipped a deflected shot onto the crossbar with the ball dropping to the Chelsea striker's feet.

With just seconds to go, Nania scored from a free kick and went on to win the game on penalties.
