Percy Hutchful, a former Proof Reader of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) was nominated by the London 2012 Organizing Committee as one of the Olympic Torchbearers for the event scheduled for July 27 to 12 Aug 2012.
Torchbearers are special people who are made to carry the flame during the touch relay for an Olympic game.
Hutchful in an interview with GNA Sports, said he feels happy to be given the honor and stressed that the event would inspire all, especially Ghanaians ahead of the tournament.
He said 8,000 inspirational people are expected to carry the Olympic Flame as it journeys across the United Kingdom for the 2012 London Olympic Games to shine, by inspiring millions of people watching in the various communities.
The former Proof Reader said the Olympic Flame will come within 10 miles of 95 percent of people in the UK, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey and enable local communities to shine a light, and the best the event has to offer includes celebrations of local culture, breathtaking landscapes and dynamic urban areas.
Hutchful who is now a football coach in London was born in Britain by Ghanaian parents and had his secondary school education at Apam Secondary school in Ghana.**
