Indonesian giants Persib Bandung are sweating unceasingly over the ankle injury suffered by experienced midfielder Michaels Essien.
Essien is a huge doubt for the Indonesian giants ahead of their weekend fixture in the Indonesian League.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder back is undergoing further tests on his knee injury which has sidelined him for their last two league matches.
Essien was absent when Persib lost 0-1 to at the 2018 Presidential Cup, at Gelora Bandung Stadium of Fire on Friday due to injury.
Essien will return to the squad if he is cleared by doctors to be fit for the game.
Persib team doctor Bandung, Rafi Ghani said Essien's right knee is swollen and will be on the sidelines for some time.
Essien has undertaken an MRI test to ascertain the extent of the injury but doctors say the result is yet to be in.
“Essien rested for a few days and is now undergoing therapy and taking medicine," said Rafi.
Essien is yet to start training with the team as the doctors await the results of the MRI.
