Hearts of Oak have paid glowing tribute to their most successful coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, who died a year today at the age of 71 after battling throat cancer.

"Sir" Cecil Jones Attuquayefio masterminded all the club's continental successes.

He coached Hearts to a historic and maiden CAF Champions League success in the year 2000, and he followed that up a year later by winning the CAF Super Cup.

Attuquayefio left the club in 2001 after winning the league on four consecutive occasions and the FA Cup twice becoming the only coach in Ghana football to win a treble in 2000 (after a domestic double in 1999).

He returned in 2004 to help Hearts win the "virgin" CAF Confederation Cup against bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko.

He also won the league for the fifth time with Hearts that year.

On this day, 12th May 2016, we remember the good and blessed memory of Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio.

May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace till we meet again.
