Isaac Dogboe (18-0, 12KOs) produced one of his best performances on Saturday night at the Bukom Boxing Arena as he stopped Mexico’s Cesar Juarez (20-6, 15KOs) in round five to win the interim WBO World super bantamweight belt.
Dogboe dropped Juarez in round two with a ferocious left hook, the Mexican beat the referee’s count.
The 23 year-old Ghanaian punished the body of Juarez in round three and four, and finally stopped the former World title contender in the fifth round.
Dogboe is now in line to face the WBO’s full champion Jessie Magdaleno, who had to pull out of a fight against Juarez due to a wrist injury.
