Black Queens coach Yusif Basigi has revealed that coaches are not duty-bound to disclose factors that go into player selection during tournaments.
The former Hassacas technical head opined that apart from those who are close to the team, the public might not be aware of procedures that coaches adopt to select a particular player ahead of the perceived one.
Ghanaians are divided over the 23-man-squad coach Avram Grant has selected for the 2017 AFCON with some arguing vehemently on some inclusions.
Giving his thought on Grant’s selection on Assin Fosu-based Nkwa FM, Basigi said: “When you are close to the team, you might have [an] idea of the coach’s selection.”
“However, they [coaches] are not bound to give reasons why players are chosen [or] not chosen,” he emphasised.
Ghana is pegged to play Egypt, Mali and Uganda in Group D of the forthcoming tournament in Gabon.
