The Nsawam Police has arrested a couple over the death of Salomey Damakpo, a 22-year-old pregnant kindergarten teacher of Otoase Presbyterian Primary School in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region.

The dead body of Damakpo was found in a nearby bush last Thursday by passers-by. Superintendent Akwasi Kankam Boadu, Nsawam Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency that the suspects are James Nfum, alias Kukuu, a 34-year-old driver and his wife, Linda Vivizraku, 30, a trader.

Supt Kankam Boadu alleged that the deceased who was the girl friend of Mfum was warned by Vivizraku a number of times to discontinue her relationship with the husband.

The Commander said the deceased received a phone call from Nfum to meet him on Wednesday night at the outskirts of the town and after the meeting Damakpo did not return home until her body was found in the bush the next day.

Supt Kankam Boadu said an alcoholic beverage found near the corpse would be sent to the Laboratory of the Headquarters of Ghana Police Service for a test.

He said the suspects who were arrested from their hideouts are in police custody and would be arraigned after investigations.

Meanwhile the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Police mortuary in Accra for autopsy.
