A terrifying incident occurred during a youth match in Brazil, when a goalkeeper was shot by a police officer during a match between Gremio Anapolis and Centro Oeste.

In a viral video circulating online, the police officer can be seen firing what appears to be a rubber bullet at the left leg of Gremio Annapolis' goalkeeper, Ramon Souza, during a scuffle.

According to a report from the Brazilian newspaper Globo, the shooting happened after the game ended, prompting the Brazilian police to launch an investigation into the incident.

Souza was seen limping and receiving medical treatment on the field before being taken to the hospital.

In a statement released by Anapolis, the club condemned the incident as a 'criminal act' and confirmed that Souza is in stable condition after receiving treatment.

"Gremio Anapolis publicly denounces the unfortunate, absurd, and appalling incident that took place at the Jonas Duarte Stadium on Wednesday night during the twelfth round of the Access Division.

"After the match against Central West, our goalkeeper Ramon Souza was cowardly shot with a rubber bullet by a police officer.

"This heinous, unbelievable, and criminal act was committed by someone who should prioritize the safety and well-being of the people present at the Jonas Duarte Stadium.

"July 10th will forever be remembered for this violent, disgraceful, and atrocious act against one of our players.

"The GEA (Gremio Anapolis) will take appropriate action to ensure that the responsible party is held accountable and justice is served so that this criminal act does not go unpunished.

"Our goalkeeper was treated on the field by GEA's doctor, Dr. Diego Bento, who administered first aid."
