Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces teams are ready for the maiden Ericsson Armed Forces Polo Tournament, which begins in Kaduna on Wednesday.

A spokesman of the sponsors of the tournament, Ericsson, Mr. Olabode Sowunmi Jr., told news men on Friday that all was set for the competition, expected to feature teams from nine countries. The countries are United States of America, United Kingdom, India, Jordan, Pakistan, Egypt, South Africa, Ghana and the host Nigeria.

Sowunmi, who is the Head, Corporate and Marketing Communications at Ericsson, said the Nigerian Armed Forces comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force would enter separate teams at the tournament scheduled to hold from January 11 to15 at the Fifth Chukker Polo Club, Kaduna.

?Ericsson has a vision to be the prime mover in an all communications world. Sports is part of that communication; sports unifies Nigerians and at sports grounds all biases are broken.

?We want to identify with the Armed Forces, who form the bedrock of integrity and unification of Nigeria,? Sowunmi said.

He added that polo is not only the game of kings but also a game of courage, which fits the disposition of members of the military.
