Premier League Resumes This Week-End

ACTION RETURNS to all leagues centres as the 2006/07 GT Premier League commences this weekend. And when the battle lines are drawn, premiership returns, Accra Great Olympics recent spectacular showing will come under severe test when they host defending champions, Asante Kotoko at the Ho Park. Until their exit to the Division One League, matches between the two sides evoked many fireworks, but Kotoko, in most instances snatch the points from the Wonder Club.

However, the happenings from the 'Dade' camp indicate that they are determined to use the game to announce their come back in a unique way by clawing all the points at stake.

But that dream appears far fetch, taking into account Kotoko's pedigree in the highly competitive on-going Champions League.

Despite playing without resolute defender, Shilla Illiasu, the recovery of intelligent libero, William Thompson, a prototype of a modern day defender, will make things difficult for Olyl's Francis Mantey, Paa Joe Kumah, David Pomaye and others.

Pundits have routed for Kotoko to carry the day regardless of the venue as a result of their consistency in competitive games.
Coach Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie will be relying on skipper Edmund Owusu Ansah, Kobina Dodzie and Michael Asante to provide scoring options for Kwame Obeng Darko, Nana Arhin Duah, Ahmed Toure and Doughs Nkrumah in attack.
In defence, Michael Ofosu Apppiah, Godferd Yeboah, Dan Acquah and Sam Addo will be expected to provide guard for goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah.
In other games, Hearts of Oak will travel to the Berekum Golden City Park to face Berekum Arsenal, where newly-promoted side Gambia All Blacks will stay home and play Liberty Professionals at Swedru. At Kpando, Power FC will be the guests of Heart of Lions, with King Faisal will be crossing swords with Bofoakwa at Sunyani.
Real Sportive will host R.T.U. at the Tema Park, while youthful Feyenoord Academy journey to Obuasi to play Ashantigold. On Saturday, Premiership debutants, Tema Youth will play host to Western giants, Sekondi Hasaacas at the Tema Park.
