Premier League set for major reforms

Ghana's elite club competition, the Premier League is set to undergo reforms, aimed at making it attractive and professional.

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi, on Friday said he will be overseeing the re-organization and introduction of new regulations ahead of the new season to deal with the competitions decline.

"The Premier League will be re-organsied with new regulations and standards for the clubs. The structure and membership of the PLB will be the subject of review.

"The Executive Committee has set up a Committee to review the FIFA Club Licensing Regulations for adoption and implementation for our domestic league," the GFA President told Congress following his re-election for a second term in office.

"We will also engage owners of television platforms and other sponsors to add spectre to the league, revive interest in our games and introduce more professionalism in the running of the league."

Nyantakyi confirmed that various ideas are being sought to help improve the running of the league and its branding.

"In the coming days, experts from the English Premier League led by its chairman, Sir Richard Davids will be traveling to Accra to hold discussions with stakeholders on ways of improving the league."
