Accra, May 29, GNA - Al Hamilton, Chairman and Founder of the All Africa Sports Awards has commenced preparations towards the next edition of the All Africa Awards event slated for Nigeria. Mr Hamilton who arrived in Ghana to commence preparations for the next edition, said preparations are in place for another memorable event, which has received the endorsement of the Association of National Olympic Committee (ANOCA) and the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
He said this year's event will see an improvement over the previous one, adding that his outfit is bent on making the event a historic one.
Asked whether he has plans of promoting boxing in Ghana, Mr Hamilton said the sport needs young and energetic Ghanaians to galvanize the sport, adding that the absence of such greats like Azumah Nelson and Ike Quartey who are not seriously involved in the sport of late gives an indication of a serious problem.
Mr Hamilton was confident of the future of the sport in the country. The Chairman has for the past years' been actively involved in the promotion of boxing in the country. 29 May 09
