President John Mahama decided against hosting Team Ghana on Sunday to join former President John Kuffour to celebrate the 80th birthday of his wife Theresah.
President Mahama was billed to host Ghana’s contingent from the 2015 All Africa Games including the Black Queens but this arrangement was scrapped at the last minute.
Mahama had returned from a trip to Nigeria but chose to join his predecessor to celebrate the 80th birthday of his wife and former First Lady Theresah Kuffour.
The ceremony was attended mainly by former high ranking government officials including Addo Kuffour and J.H Mensah who also happens to be the brother of the celebrant.
President Mahama’s decision to join in the celebration of the former first lady leaves Team Ghana in the cold as they now await a new opportunity to meet with the head of state.
Ghana emerged with two gold medals at the 2015 All Africa Games staged in Congo-Brazzaville with women’s soccer and tennis clinching the honours for the state.
The meeting with the President was also to be used to address the outstanding bonus issue of the Black Queens which almost erupted into another worldwide disgrace.
