Accra, April 25, GNA - This year's Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) organized President's Cup Football Challenge match will be played at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Tuesday, 1 July. Mr Emmanuel Adotey, Chairman of GHALCA, who announced this in Accra on Friday, said unlike the previous years where the Association decided on the two clubs for the match, this time round four clubs have been short-listed and that soccer fans would have the opportunity to send SMS text to vote and pair the two Clubs who would meet to challenge for the trophy.

The GHALCA Chairman said the four clubs are Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak, Obuasi Ashgold and Kpando Heart of Lions. He said the competition, which was started in 2003 continues to generate interest year after year and that this year's would not be exceptional.

Mr Adotey lamented that the competition failed to come off in 2006 and 2007 because of Ghana's participation in the World Cup and the numerous international conferences held in 2007. He announced that next year the two top Clubs at the end of the Onetouch Premier League would meet for the match. The President, Mr John Agyekum Kufuor would be the Special Guest of Honour.

Mr Adotey gave the assurance that this year's GHALCA Top Four competition would be the most exciting one with the return of the two traditional Top Four venues, the Ohene Ddjan Sports Stadium in Accra and the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi in focus. He said the excitement is high also because no single club has successfully defended or won the trophy on the trot in the past six editions.

"This has consistently baffled everyone from the day of its inception to date, adding that "it is a reflection of how competitive the event has become and the seriousness with which Premier League Clubs attach to it'.
