While Medeama and Dreams FC look likely to top the Ghana Premier League table after matchday 14’s midweek action, the likes of Karela United, Ashanti Gold and Inter Allies are well positioned to spring a surprise.
Tied on points at the summit, a defeat on the part of Medeama or Dreams could play into the hands of the other when they take on Wa All Stars and Ashgold respectively.
The Yellow and Mauves are highly tipped to come out victorious in their home fixture against the bottom-placed club. Still Belief, however, face a difficult one in their away encounter with the Miners, who sit just two places below on the table.
Should the top two fall, new boys Karela United have the best chance to assume first place should they cause an upset away at Wafa, who hold the seventh position.
Fifth-placed Allies, who have same number of points as Ashgold and Karela, will have to wait until Thursday to test their chances of possibly becoming the new leaders. The Eleven-Is-To-One face twenty-time champions Hearts of Oak in one of only two fixtures scheduled for the day.
Elsewhere, Asante Kotoko are eyeing their third successive win in the league in their trip to Liberty Professionals. The Porcupine Warriors lie sixth on the ladder, six places ahead of the Scientific Soccer Lads.
Looking to bounce back from Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Asante Kotoko, newly-promoted Elmina Sharks have the chance to make amends when they host third-from-bottom Ebusua Dwarfs at the Nduom Sports Stadium.
After their upset of Medeama on the last matchday, Berekum Chelsea are in high spirits ahead of their travel to Techiman where Eleven Wonders await. Whereas the Blues occupy the ninth position, the debutants are locked on the 13th spot.
Defending champions Aduana Stars must beat Bechem United in the second match of Thursday to stand a chance of moving from the 15th position. The Hunters, meanwhile, are 11th on the log.
