The Black Princesses are sweating to lift themselves up after their massacre against the United States of America in their Group D opener at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan.
The Princesses are obviously outright downcast with the outcome of the match and Captain Mercy Myles tells GNA Sports in Hiroshima “we are very down after that embarrassment. The technical team has told us to put it behind us, but it is still very hard for us.
“The mood of every player is an indication of how bad we feel. This team has some of the players that graduated from the U-17 plus some of those we played at the last World Cup and that should have worked for us. Unfortunately, it did not and we feel very bad.”
The Princesses must give some hope to their dream of advancing out of the group on their second attempt when they face Germany on Thursday and Myles reckons shaking off their disappointment remains the way to go.
“Though it is very difficult, we are trying to lift ourselves because what is ahead of us is even a bigger challenge. We now have to remind ourselves that it is only when we can push for a result in the next games that we can realize our dreams,” the captain said.
Ghana was torn into shreds on Monday when the Princesses conceded a first half own goal before American Maya Hayes hit a hat-trick after recess to deflate their spirits.
