Ashantigold Chief Executive Kudjoe Fianoo has labeled their prize money for winning the Ghanaian top-flight as ‘drop in the ocean’.
The miners pocketed a paltry 50,000 Ghana Cedis for winning the Ghana Premier League this season.
The amount has been hugely criticized in the local media with fears it will serve as huge disincentive.
And Ashantigold chief Kudjoe Fianoo has been quick to criticize the prize money for his team.
“Well I can say that the money is just a drop in the ocean, Kotoko were given 65,000 last season and we were given 50,000,” he told Kumasi-based Kessben FM.
“I can’t say it’s enough because considering what goes into winning the league, it’s just a drop in the ocean but we pride ourselves in being champions of the league.”
The miners won their first Premier League crown in 19-years.
