Sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah has praised the late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills as the most honest leader Ghana has had under the Fourth Republic.
He admired Prof. Mills for his transparency and honesty with Ghanaians during difficult times, rather than resorting to lies to gain public favor.
Yeboah also appreciated Prof. Mills' efforts to amend the constitution, which had been criticized for being skewed by former President Jerry John Rawlings to favour himself.
In an interview with Starr FM on August 5, 2024, Yeboah highlighted Prof. Mills' selflessness, noting that he was not quick to accept gifts during his tenure.
"In 1992, when former President Rawlings, in consultation with opinion leaders, experts, and think tanks, put together the 1992 constitution, when we started the Fourth Republic, almost every generation criticized former Rawlings, saying that he skewed the constitution to suit him. fast forward. He spent his eight years in power and is now gone into eternity.
"Who has ever attempted to change the constitution? Except for Professor Mills. And I always say, without fear or favor, that under the Fourth Republic constitution, the only honest leader we've had is Professor Mills. This is a sitting president who was gifted a house, and he said, 'I have two already.' The man was so selfless," Yeboah remarked.
Yeboah made these comments while discussing the impact of leaders as the nation celebrates Founders' Day.
