Professionally football administrators must lead the Ghana Football Association, according to the Majority Leader in Parliament, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.
Mensah-Bonsu disclosed that the club administrators being elected to lead the FA are not helping the association due to their selfish interest.
The Normalisation Committee opened nominations for the 2019 GFA elections on Monday and bankroller of Dreams FC Edwin Simon Kurt Okraku, Wilfred Kweku Osei Palmer, Fred Pappoe, Nana Yaw Amponsah, and George Afriyie have all picked up forms to contest the election.
”The norm of ‘football people’ or club administrators being elected to lead the GFA is not helping us, they come with their own interest. We must get professional administrators to lead our football association,” the majority leader told Kumasi 104.1 FM.
”I personally think these club owners cannot help develop our football. We must get professional administrators on board and hand over the association to them.
”There’s no intention of government seeking to appoint nor back anyone for the GFA elections, it never appeared in my interaction with the sports minister,” he added.
