Professionals adviced to exercise to avoid early death

Dr. Prince Pambo, Medical Director at the National Sports Authority (NSA) has advised Ghanaian professionals to train physically to avoid stress, cardiac diseases or early death.

Speaking at the seventh edition of the Accra Works Out training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, he said it is about time Ghanaians take aerobics training serious to be physically fit, agile and disciplined.

He noted that living quality lifestyle is very important and everybody needs to avoid junk foods and take in fresh foods which would keep the human body healthy. He named journalists, doctors, lawyers, teachers and other professionals all at risk if they do not train to be physically and mentally sound.

According to the man responsible for medicals at the National Under 20 Football team that won bronze at the 2013 FIFA World Cup in Turkey, participating in sports is very good and wished everybody does some some of sports everyday.

He hinted that people should have time for their bodies and live healthy lifestyles. “I know some people eat whilst they work, and I want to say it is not good. You must try to do one thing at a time to avoid stress and depression. Of late young guys are losing their lives due to stress and heart related issues which can be solved by exercising” he said. “please pay respect to your body, eat the right food at the right time and exercise regularly” he added.

Arnold Aryee, the senior instructor of the Accra Works Out sessions said the programme has come to stay and hope more people would come and train every month and have the advantage of training at the modern Stadium gym.

He congratulated the participants who started the training sessions and have continued till now. The last training programme attracted lots of people from all walks of life and they defied the early showers to train on the multi-purpose sports court in front of the Stadium gym.

Constance Nana Yirenkyiwaa, a female fitness instructor could not hide her feelings as she thanked the organisers, Primeval Consult for coming up with such a laudable idea to make people fit and healthy. She recommended that more girls and women should participate in the Accra Works Out to make them active.
