Some of Ghana’s best known footballers on Thursday honoured the memory of the late vice President of the Ghana Football Association with a series of matches on the occasion of the one week celebration of his passing.

At the PRESEC Park, Legon, a select side of local and foreign based players, took on Impilo Ghana FC in the afternoon to climax the day’s activities and it was an interesting spectacle to savour. The select side featuring the likes of Ben Acheampong (Kotoko), Frank Sowah (Wa All Stars), David Ardy (FC Porto, Portugal), Rabiu Mohammed (Evian Thonon Gaillard , France), Yusif Rahman (Alki Larcana FC, Cyprus) among others, drew 4 – 4 with the Impilo Ghana side. Asante Kotoko’s Ben Acheampong scored twice for his side with further goals being contributed by Rabiu Mohammed and David Ardy for the select side that played very well on the day.

Sumaila Bukari scored a hat-trick for the Impilo Ghana side whose other goal was contributed in excellent fashion by Desmond Adjei to close a memorable encounter played in memory of the late Jordan Anagblah who in 2009, led Ghana to become the first African nation to win the FIFA Coca Cola U 20 World Cup in Egypt.

Most of the players who featured for the select side, had one point in their careers, being associated with the late Mr. Anagblah including Rabiu Mohammed and David Ardy who were part of the Ghana U 20 team the won the World Cup in 2009.

Earlier in the morning at the Madina Aviation Park, Impilo Ghana FC defeated Madina United 2 – o to usher in the day’s activities which included the celebration of the one week of Mr. Anagblah’s passing. A brace by Salim Mohammed in the second half ensured the win for the Impilo Ghana team against a team founded and financed by the late Vice President of the Ghana FA. The 55 year old passed away last week in Accra after a short illness and would be buried on July 14 after a funeral service have been held for him at the national Sports Stadium in Accra where thousands are expected to bid him a final farewell.
