Born on December 13, 1995, Lin Yu-Ting is a Taiwanese female boxer with an impressive amateur record of 40 wins and 14 losses.

She competes primarily in the featherweight division and holds a Master's degree from Chinese Culture University.

Achievements:

• 2013: Won her first gold medal at the World Youth Championships in the 51kg category, marking Chinese Taipei's first gold in this event.

• 2017: Secured gold at the ASBC Elite Boxing Championships in the 54kg category.

• 2018: Won bronze in the 51kg category at the Asian Games, the first medal for Chinese Taipei in 48 years.

• 2018: Clinched gold at the AIBA World Women Championships in the 54kg category.

• 2019: Won gold at the ASBC Elite Boxing Championships in the 57kg category and bronze at the AIBA World Women Championships in the same weight class.

Controversy:

Lin faced scrutiny after a gender eligibility test disqualified her from the 2023 World Championships.

Similar to Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, Lin was later confirmed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as eligible to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Despite criticisms, both athletes' passports and medical records confirm they were born female.

Upcoming bout:

Lin is set to compete against Sitora Turdibekova of Uzbekistan on August 2, 2024, at the Paris Olympic Games.

This bout is highly anticipated, especially following the controversial victory of Imane Khelif over Italian boxer Angela Carini, which sparked significant backlash on social media.
