Promote ideals of the Olympic games

Cape Coast, May 16, GNA- Mr Ben T. Baba President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has appealed to soccer administrators to propagate the ideals of the Olympic games.

He said the games aimed at placing sports at the service of the harmonious development of man and encourage the establishment of a peaceful society concerned with the preservation of human dignity. Mr Baba made the appeal in a speech read on his behalf at the closing of a five-day training workshop organised by the GOC, for 20 sports administrators drawn from the Ghana Education Service, University of Cape Coast, Ghana National Fire Service and National Sports Council. He asked the participants to use sports to promote the spirit of fair play, mutual understanding and respect for one another, friendship and peace, which epitomizes good sportsmanship.

Participants were taken through topics like: "Government and Sports", "Challenges Facing Ghana Sports", "Fair Play In School Sports", "Violence In Ghana Sports and "Doping Control". 16 May 05
