Promoters calls for discipline at Pilipilipi Night

Accra, Aug 12 - GNA - Ambition and Nii Armah Promotions, match makers of Friday's boxing extravaganza at the Kaneshie Sports Complex have warned that acts of indiscipline will not be tolerated at the venue.
Alhaji Nurudeen Tofik, a key figure in the promotion syndicate said arrangements have been concluded with the security agencies to ensure that a high level of discipline is maintained in order to make the night a memorable one for boxing fans.
He said, they as promoters, have put together tough fights that will whet the appetite of boxing lovers and warned trouble shooters to keep their distance as the security operatives will not spare any of them.
The promoter said they have decided to return boxing to the Kaneshie Sports Complex because "it is the most convenient venue for boxing as it is very spacious easily accessible."
Alhaji Tofik advised fans to come early because the timetable will be strictly adhered to, adding that the first fight will start at 7:45 p.m. and not a minute later.
He said Friday's programme will be the beginning of greater things to come in boxing promotion and implored boxing lovers to keep faith with Ambition and Nii Armah Promotions for some of the toughest pairings ever to be put together in Ghana.
Top on the bill at the Pilipilipi Night will be a national bantamweight title fight between Alex Ali Baba, a former world rated super flyweight and the national champion, Anyetei Laryea.
Other fights include a national super welterweight championship between Osumanu Adama and Ayittey Powers and a welterweight fray involving Philip Kotey and Julius Obi.
Moro Tijani of the Ghana Armed Forces will test his arsenal against Joseph Sarkodie in a national lightweight championship while Zakari Salifu challenges Isaac Quartey over eight rounds in a lightweight contest.
Joshua Okine tangos Nigerian, Jamel Tyson and high riding James Toney slugs it out with the Nigerian middleweight champion who is expected to arrive Accra on Wednesday.
