Head Coach of the senior national cricket team, Kodam Kofi Anafie, has attributed their triumph in the Africa Division 1 to proper preparations. The senior team prior to their Africa Division 1 campaign of the World Cricket League qualification had enormous preparations in Ghana and Benin.
Ghana came tops in the Africa region, winning all five matches against Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Botswana, Tanzania and Zambia in the tournament which was played in South Africa.
The team welcomes the new challenge in going to battle the big guns in cricket for qualification to Division 4 of the World Cricket League to scheduled to take place in 2023.
They were welcomed back to Ghana on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Kotoka International Airport.
Kodam who has managed the team for more than a year now says their target is to remain in Division 5 even if they don’t go through.
“I believe proper preparations and I think we did prepare well and once you prepare well, you’ll definitely get results. The target is to try and remain in division 5, even if we don’t go through but the approach is to work hard as we always do and then try to strengthen our weakness”. He told reporters at the Airport.
Ghana can qualify to division 4 stage of the WCL if they are able to be among the first three in a tournament to be played between September 3 and 9, 2017 in South Africa.
