The founder of Alabaster International Ministry, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has pinpointed a lack of discipline in the Black Stars' camp as a major contributing factor to the team's poor performances in recent years.

While delivering a sermon at his church, Prophet Kofi Oduro claimed that the failure of Black Stars players to adhere to camp rules is one of their major drawbacks.

A significant act of indiscipline noted by the outspoken clergyman regarding the Black Stars is the alleged intrusion of the players' female partners into the Black Stars' camp.

He recounted a story of one of his junior pastors who had to cease communication with him because he was undergoing training as an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service, contrasting it with how receptive Black Stars camps are to female acquaintances of players.

“One of the pastors here joined the Immigration and enrolled at the Trinity Theological College to become a chaplain in the Ghana Immigration Service. Before he went to the College, he informed me that we would not be hearing from him because they would not be allowed to engage with the outside public.

“For seven months, we didn't hear from him. They were cut off from all civilian life because they were under training. Even Immigration officers are not allowed to engage with the public during training, but Black Stars players are allowed to entertain women during training. I'm not surprised they have been losing matches,” he said.

Prophet Kofi Oduro also praised former Black Starlets coach Laryea Kingston for his courage in deciding to resign from the team.

In Prophet Kofi Oduro's view, Laryea Kingston demonstrated exemplary leadership and should be commended for his actions.

“Recently, one of the teams performed poorly, and their coach resigned. I respect that young man. When you go on an assignment and you fail, it's only right that you resign to make way for someone else. It shows courage,” he said.

His comments come as the Black Stars continue their preparations for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.

The 26-man squad announced by Coach Otto Addo has been in camp training for the two games since Friday, May 31, 2024.

They are expected to fly to Mali today, June 4, 2024, for the match scheduled for Thursday, June 6, 2024.

They will host the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 10, 2024.
