The Ghana National Gas Company has commissioned and handed over a newly-constructed astro-turf to the people of Pusiga.

The commissioning and handing over, done on Monday, June 17, was graced by the entire township as they lauded the government, expressing gratitude to Ghana Gas.

The Pusiga District, one of the 15 districts in the Upper East Region, was originally part of the then larger Bawku Municipal District. It is predominantly a farming community with an abundance of footballing talent.

Addressing the gathering, the Youth and Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, noted that the edifice would serve as a catalyst in nurturing young talent not only for the community but for the entire municipal district as well.

The Sports Minister lauded the initiative, stating that the astro-turf would serve as a vital tool in promoting physical fitness.

He highlighted the potential of the facility to host regional sports events, which would foster unity and camaraderie among the youth.

"This Astro-turf is not only for the people of Pusiga but also for the people of the entire district and the people of Burkina Faso and Togo, since they are all closer," he said.

Deputy Minister for Transport Alhassan Tampuli, who also serves as the MP for Gushegu Constituency, expressed gratitude to the Ghana National Gas Company for providing the astro-turf, which he described as an investment in the community and the entire district.

He further stressed the importance of such projects in bridging the development gap between urban and rural areas of the region.

The CSR Project Manager of Ghana Gas, Anyimah Edomgbole, emphasized the company's dedication to delivering on their corporate social responsibility and community development.

He reiterated that the turf forms part of a broader initiative to support youth development through sports.
