Former Board Secretary of Accra Hearts of Oak Ernest Thompson wants Hearts fans to put pressure on board and management to revive the dwindling fortunes of the club.

Ernest Thompson believes the former Caf Champions League winners is below the standard it is known across the globe and want the fans who were a major part of the club’s success, to put pressure on the board to take decisions that will return the team to winning ways.

“Maybe he [head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi] may need a season or two to build the team, but if he’s a coach who can build a good team, you can see the traces, you’ll see it from the beginning .

“But the question is that, this Accra Hearts of Oak, what quality players have been brought on? If the team do not perform well, I don’t know what will result in that,” Thompson told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

He added: “I don’t know the structures the current management is using, but during our time we usually sit down with the coach. There was a recruitment policy and we worked together but I don’t know what is being done now.

“What I do hope is that the CEO and the rest know what they are doing and what they’re willing to do.

“But you can only hope if you’re confronted your view will be accepted to help sort out whatever problem they’re having. Not withstanding, I just hope that the team have success.”

Ernest Thompson also on called on fans to put pressure on the management and board of the club and should not accept anything they believe is below the club’s standard.

“And to the supporters, I will tell them that once a Phobian is always a Phobian and nothing else. They play an important role in the club and it is that they ought to put pressure on the management and the board to turn the team into winning ways immediately.

“Supporters are the club and they have to put consistent and constant pressure on the management and the board that they will not accept anything below the standard of Accra Hearts of Oak. It doesn’t matter who is the owner of the club.”

Accra Hearts of Oak have won only one pre-season match since the appointment of Japanese-American trainer Kenichi Yatsuhashi.
