Queens advance at WAFU women's tourney

Ghana's Black Queens are through to the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B women's tournament after beating Burkina Faso 4-1 in their final Group A game on Sunday.

Goals from captain Portia Boakye (21st, 70th), Grace Asantewaa (39th) and Priscilla Okyere (55th), handed the Queens the victory they needed to join Cote d'Ivoire from Group A to the semi-finals of the competition being staged in Abidjan.

Cote d'Ivoire also beat Niger 6-0 to top the group on seven points while Ghana had six points.

Portia Boakye also won the Woman of the match award.

Ghana now await their semi-final opponents which is likely to be Group A leaders, Nigeria who play their final group game against Senegal later on Sunday.
