RTU Threatens To Boycott League

Mon, 24 May 2004 Source: .

Real Tamale United, the pride of the north, are threatening to pull out of the 2004 Premier League if they are not allowed to revert to the use of their traditional home ground, the Kaladan Park.

RTU are demanding compensation for the invaluable losses incurred as a result of playing away from Tamale.

The team has had to play their league matches at the Bolga Park since last season because of on-going renovations at the Kaladan Park.

But there is a new twist to the issue, which casts massive doubts on any chances RTU had of returning to Kaladan- the recent state of emergency in the Tamale municipality.

Jones Abu Alhassan, a management member of the club, in an interview with JoySports stated that he believes this new turn of events is an indication that RTU is not needed in the league.
