Ghana midfielder Rabiu Mohammed made a return from injury in Kuban Krasnodar’s 3-1 defeat at Amkar Perm on Saturday.

The 23-year-old came on as a second half substitute to play 20 minutes – marking his triumphant return from injury after a six-week layoff.

Rabiu had surgery in September to fix a thigh problem.

The injury ruled the influential defensive midfielder out of Ghana’s 2014 World Cup playoff against Egypt.

Rabiu missed both legs as the Black Stars eventually qualified for next year’s event in Brazil on a massive 7-3 aggregate scoreline.

The former Evian TG man has been one of the best performers for the Black Stars ever since winning over the holding role at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

His return to first team action will therefore come as good news for Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah who has already started the process of assembling his team for the World Cup in June.
