Radio presenters should give Hannah Bissiw and Bechem United a break

It’s about time Ghanaians desist from turning every trivial issue into politics. Ghana football must pave way for politicians to also render their candid contribution and kindness to our game of football.

There is no denying the fact that FIFA do frown on political interference but that shouldn't be on financial support to the smaller clubs in any country. *SportsInGhana.com* investigations reveal that our West African neighbours like Nigeria are doing well because of contribution from their state governors to the clubs in the Nigerian Premier League and I can mention Lagos State governor, Baba Tunde Fashora to emphasize this fact.

A Division One club will do well to qualify to the elite division but end up being relegated the same year because of a lack of finance. How many clubs own sponsorship packages in this country?

The motive behind this article is to condemn those radio presenters who are linking Deputy Minister for Water Resource and Housing, Hon. Hannah Bissiw to the new stadium Bechem United is putting-up for their premier league matches just because she donated $5,000 (five thousand US Dollars) to the players when they qualified from the Middle League.

It seems to me that, these radio presenters do not know the financial position of the owner of the team Mr. Agama. I don't think building a stadium is a problem for him and besides the good people of Bechem including the District Assembly are all contributing towards the building of the stadium. My colleague presenters should tell us, when Kwabena Kesse of Kessben fame qualified Kessben FC to the Premier League and built their own stadium, did any one link any politician to that project?

Agama is also as rich as these people so the stadium is being financed by him. When l heard that Hon. Hannah Bissiw had given Bechem United players $5,000, I immediately compared her to some of the state governors in Nigeria. If we have about four of her type in Ghana, I don't think any team will only depend on Glo’s sponsorship money to progress.

It was later that I found out that even that 5,000 Dollars was not from her own pocket; it was a donation she organized and got from her own colleague ministers. So as a media, we should desist from all this unnecessary criticism by making politics out of anything because it kills our game.

Bechem United like other great Brong Ahafo clubs as Chelsea, Arsenal and Aduana have come to stay and there is no turning back. I also congratulate Kingsley Osei Bonsu Zico and the whole Becheman for bringing yet another potential Ghana Premier League winner to the people of Brong Ahafo. And in building their own stadium, some of us don't support the idea of going to play their matches in Kumasi, so having their own stadium will help the club.

Any time I visit Obed Nana Kwame Nketiah, the CEO of Berekum Chelsea, and see the mini bus donated to them by PLB in his house, I feel so proud to be in this great region and l encourage Bechem United to emulate that feat as well.

All politicians who want to help our football clubs financially should not hesitate to do so now that Hannah Bissiw has shown them the way.
