Raja Casablanca head coach Rusmir Cviko has blamed the poor condition of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch for his side’s inability to beat Ghanaian side Samartex in their CAF Champions League second qualifying round first leg.
The Moroccan outfit battled to earn a 2-2 draw in the Ghanaian capital and hold the advantage to progress to the next stage.
In his post-match speech, the Bosnian trainer said: "No, I’m not happy. I’m happy because we didn’t lose this game, but normally we should win this game. On this field where we played, it’s not possible to play, but how we played today, I want to say congratulations. It’s a big win for my team."
Raja Casablanca took the lead in the 20th minute when Mohamed Azrida headed in a corner kick.
The Timber Giants responded in the 37th minute with Francis Gyetuah scoring a stunning acrobatic goal to equalize.
Samartex took the lead when Michael Ephson connected home a rebound.
Raja tied the contest early in the second half through Mohamed Boulacsout, who finished off a brilliant team move.
