The Organising Committee of the annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup has been rescheduled to Saturday, June 15th.

The 5th edition was originally fixed for June 8, at the Wembley Park, at Kotobabi, Accra, but organisers have now rescheduled it due to the ban on noise-making as a result of Homowo festival.

Mr. Tamimu Issah, the Coordinator of the tournament, said the postponement was due to the ban and the respect they had for the Ga Community.

“The Ramadan Cup is a sports festival, which also plays music at the background through the competition, and we realised that our public address and sound system would violate the ban on noise making within our host community, so it is important for us to respect the ban and reschedule it," said Mr. Issah.

“We peacefully co-exist in these communities so it is important to continue to show mutual respect to each other.

The Ramadan Cup is named after a renowned peace advocate, so we don't want to do anything that would lead to confusion," he added.

The annual competition would witness 16 teams in Accra battle for the ultimate trophy.
