Randy Abbey’s bodyguard attacked me - Aduana Manager

The Operations Manager of Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars, George Gyawu, has alleged that the bodyguard of Randy Abbey attacked him during a league game against Heart of Lions in Kpando over the weekend.

According to George Gyawu, Randy Abbey, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Heart of Lions asked his bodyguard to attack him after he (Gyewu) complained about dubious officiating during the game.

Gyawu claims that he confronted officials of Heart of Lions when it became apparent that they (Lions) had influenced the referee to be bias against Aduana Stars.

“I complained about the officiating because it was too obvious that the referee wanted to cheat us. But when I was complaining, Randy Abbey who was seated with Maxwell Konadu and others called me a stupid man. I told him not to dare call me that again because he is about the same age as my son. He then asked his bodyguard to attack me. We cannot develop football this way. The bias must stop.”

Aduana Stars lost the game by a 1-0 margin and thus lost further grounds on leaders Ashantigold in the title race.

Prince Acquah converted an 18th-minute penalty to give Lions all the valuable three points, which also kept their dreams of avoiding relegation alive.

With Ashantigold stretching their lead on Saturday after earning a vital point away at Berekum Chelsea, Aduana needed to win to keep up the pressure on the miners.

However, their defeat has now left them four points behind and Ashantigold will be crowned champions if they win their next game at home.

The match was equally important for the home side, who are also involved in the battle to avoid relegation. With so many clubs in contention to avoid the drop, defeat would have spelt doom for Lions, especially on a day their other relegation contenders recorded vital points.
