Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri has refused to throw more lights on the possible transfer of Ghana defender Daniel Amartey to King Power Stadium.

The Foxes manager, after going unbeaten in three Premier League matches, declined to comment on reports of talks between his side and FC Copenhagen over Amartey.

Ranieri reaffirmed he is impressed with his current squad, refuting speculations that agent Darryl Powell had been sent to Copenhagen to broker a deal for the 20-year-old defender, who can also play as a midfielder.

“I don't want to speak about speculations,” Ranieri replied when asked about Amartey during a press conference.

"At this moment I prefer to speak about my players.

"There are no negotiations at this moment and, if there is somebody now, I don't talk about it here."

Manchester City's £4 million offered for Amartey was rejected a few weeks ago by Copenhagen but the Citizens are expected to present an improved proposal as they face a keen competition from French side Olympique Marseille, who have also joined the race to snaffle the Ghana international.

Amartey played 29 games last season in the Danish Superliga for Copenhagen, starting 27 and scoring 3 goals.

He has also played all the three games so far this season and was an integral part of the Ghana team that won silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations held in Equatorial Guinea.
