Ghanaian striker Michael Sarpong has been sacked by Rwandan side Rayon Sports for 'insulting' club president Sadate Munyakazi.
Sarpong is reported to have said on talk show on one local radio station on Monday, 20 April, 2020 that: "Sadate (Munyakazi) does not fit the leadership of Rayon Sports."
The former Dreams FC striker was sharing his thought on the club's recently reversed controversial decision to suspend March salaries for the players and coaching staff due to coronavirus pandemic.
The club announced on Wednesday that the player's contract had been terminated with immediate effect.
"Considering that no reason can justify your insulting and dishonourable behaviour, we are forced to terminate your contract," the statement said.
"The termination of working relationships on the field without notice or compensation is required and takes immediate effect."
Sarpong, 24, was the club’s top-scorer during their league title-winning 2018-19 season.
