Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has announced that Nsawam-based referee Samuel K. Gyasi will be at the centre of Sunday's SWAG Cup second leg match involving Hearts of Oak and Ashantigold at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
A statement signed by William Ezah, Acting General Secretary said Gyasi, the reigning best referee on the local scene will be assisted on the lines by Abigail Sowah of Accra and Beatrice Thaud from Aflao with Thomas Nunoo of Accra as the fourth official.
It said the Association has received adequate assurance from the Referees Association of Ghana (RAG) that there will be fair officiating for the two Clubs.
It added that SWAG is determined to maintain the image and reputation of the annual event and will go every length to ensure fairness in the game on Sunday.
The statement said the two sides are ready to compete keenly for the prestigious SWAG/SIC H. P. Nyemitei trophy and will parade the best set of players on the day.
It therefore called on soccer fans to fill the stands to witness the third clash between the two sides within a month before the start of the premiership.
According to the statement, gates will be opened at 11:00am, adding that the needed security measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all soccer fans.
