Rejoinder: Deteriorating Performance Of Ashgold S.C.

Fri, 3 Jun 2005 Source: Alhaji Ibrahim/Victor Frimpong

We the Supporters of ASHGOLD Sporting Club find Mr. Kwarteng?s letter published on the Ghanaweb and the Daily Graphic on Wednesday 1st June 2005 against Capt. Andy Sam, the substantive Chief Executive Officer very absurd.

Mr. Kwaku Kwarteng who claimed to be the former Chairman of KNUST (Kumasi) branch of the Supporters? Union in 1997 has ever since not contributed anything to the Shaft he belongs. Besides he does not even attend meetings to share his experience with the Executives. Mr. Kwaku Kwarteng only returned from overseas in 2004 to contest for the N.P.P Parliamentary preliminary elections that he woefully lost.

Since his arrival in 2004 he had not even witnessed any AshGold match at both the Len Clay Sports Stadium and outside Obuasi. His assertion in his letter that ?the relationship between Captain Andy Sam and other important sections of the Club as well as the broad supporting body has marred? is incorrect because Mr. Kwarteng is not a member of the Supporters? Association and does not have first hand information about what is actually happening in the Club. All what he published was baseless and lacked the backing of the entire Supporters? Executives of the club. We think Mr. Kwarteng who was a former Executive of the NCC should have known better to consult the NCC for fact finding before writing his selfish letter against the CEO.

The NCC condemns the unfortunate publications of Mr. Kwarteng and urges him to desist from any further publication. Every Ashgold fan has his democratic right to talk on any subject matter of his choice about the great Club but should not use the Supporters front to achieve his selfish desires. We totally disassociate ourselves from his letter.
