Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Premier League outfit Ashanti Gold has decided to participate in the 2015 CAF Confederations Cup.
According to our sources, the club’s Board of Directors took the decision after lengthy consultative talks with the Obuasi Municipal Assembly and the Adansi royal stool.
Footy-ghana.com sources gather that the Board of Directors was initially not inclined to okay an African campaign due to scarcity of resources to fund it, but was willing to wait until Wednesday, by which time thorough consultative talks would have taken place with relevant stakeholders, before taking a final decision.
The club’s Chief Executive, Cudjoe Fianoo has already called on the Ghana Football Association to increase financial support for clubs participating in continental competition.
Ashanti Gold was asked by the GFA to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup after MTN FA Cup finalists Inter Allies declined to take part.
