Accra Hearts of Oak captain, Robin Gnagne has dared his Ivorian brother, Ahmed Toure who plays for Asante Kotoko ahead of the Sunday’s clash in Accra.
The Phobians will host their fieriest rival Kotoko on match day 25 of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League at the Accra sports stadium coming Sunday, a game dubbed as a ‘battle for survival’ due to the current positions of the two teams. Hearts sit at the 14th position 29 points and Kotoko 11th position with 32 points.
However, it will not only be a battle between the two biggest clubs in Ghana but a real war between Hearts of Oak’s defender Robin Gnangne and Kotoko’s striker Ahmed Toure who are both from Ivory Coast plying their trade in Ghana.
In the ongoing season, Robin Gnagne have won two battles against Ahmed Toure as he featured prominently in the Phobians 1-0 win over the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi in the first round of the league and the 1st July Presidents Cup in Accra.
And ahead of the game, the stalwart defender, Robin Gnangne has dared Ahmed Toure, stating that he will not give Asante Kotoko’s leading marks man a breathing space in the Sunday’s game.
“It will be a wonderful game on Sunday, Ahmed Toure is a good striker both of us are from Ivory Coast and we are playing in Ghana for different clubs but in the game there will be no friendship because I will not give him any breathing space in the game I will mark him out of the game,” Robin Gnangne exclusively told Allsports.com.gh from the club’s camp in Akuse.
Ahmed Toure have missed two crucial games for Asante Kotoko due to illness [Malaria] however he started training last Tuesday building his fitness level for the Sunday’s game.
“I heard that Ahmed Toure was down with Malaria, I want to wish him speedy recovery because I want to meet him on the field on Sunday, he is my senior he was playing in Ghana before I came, he has the experience and quality to take on defenders but I’m totally different from those defenders, I’m a player of my own and I have the quality to stop the dangerous move from him,” he added.
He concluded: “I’m very optimistic that Hearts of Oak will beat Kotoko on Sunday and I’m calling on all the Phobia fans to fill the stadium in their numbers because it is a victory day for Hearts”.
