AS Roma have joined the hunt for Ghana left-back Abdul Rahman Baba and have made Augsburg an offer for the 20-year old.

Interest is high in the talented defender, with Chelsea, Manchester City and Juventus all believed to be keen on the Black Star.

According to Calcio News 24 [via Forza Italian Football], the Giallorossi are impressed with Baba, and have made an offer of €10.8 million for his services.

Baba has been one of the outstanding performers in the Bundesliga this term, helping Augsburg to a fifth-placed finish and their first-ever qualification for the European competition.

The Fuggerstadter will compete in the 2015-16 Europa League.

Baba Moved to Augsburg two years ago following a one-year spell with German side Greuter Furth, having previously played in his homeland with Asante Kotoko and Dreamz FC.

While he impressed last season as Markus Weinzierl’s side registered a 8th-place in the Bundesliga, he has truly come into his own this term.

Beyond an impressive showing at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations—where he established himself as the national side’s first-choice left-back—he has also excelled in the league. Defensively, he has demonstrated increasing maturity—no Bundesliga defender averaged more tackles-per-match than the Ghanaian, while one player in the top flight managed better—while offensively, he has proved himself to be a valuable weapon in Augsburg’s armoury, and has been a regular sight tearing down Augsburg’s left flank in another attacking foray.

According to Forza Italia Football, Wolfsburg, who won this season’s German cup, are also weighing up a bid for the starlet.

Baba’s international teammate Andre Ayew has also been linked with a move to the Italian capital, although recent reports suggest that talks may have broken down between player and club. Instead, Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as Dede’s most-likely destination.

It is feasible that Roma will be in the market for a left back in this summer. The incumbent, Ashley Cole, has had a mixed campaign—managing only 11 appearances in Serie A—and is rumoured to be set for a move away from the club.
