Match day one of the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League season recorded a high turnout of 26 goals with all goals in each game.
17 of the goals were scored by home sides with away sides netting 8 times on Sunday.
The games which were played on Sunday December 29, saw 8 wins with only one game between Liberty Professionals and Legon Cities FC ending in a draw.
Justice Blay scored the opening goal of the season as his third minute goal proved to be the match winner for Asante Kotoko in their opening league match against Techiman Eleven Wonders.
At the end of the first half 11 goals had been recorded from the nine matches with 14 scored in the second half.
Yahaya Mohammed got the first hat trick of the season as Aduana Stars’ 4-0 whipping of Inter Allies with Dreams FC’s Emmanuel Ocran also getting a brace in his team’s 4-1 win over King Faisal.
In all two players were red-carded in the opening round of matches with over 40 players also receiving cautions for various offences.
