SWAG Awards: Harrison Afful elated with nomination

Ghana defender Harrison Afful is delighted to have been nominated in the Footballer of the Year category at this year’s awards ceremony of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).

The right-back is however facing stiff competition against Andre Ayew and Asamoah Gyan for the prestigious award which will be handed out this Saturday at the State Banquet Hall in Accra.

Afful is hoping to be second time lucky this time after missing out on the 2011 edition of the awards in the same category to Asamoah Gyan.

The Columbus Crew defender is however happy to have been recognized with his nomination.

“It feels good to be nominated, thanks for the recognition and a big thank you to all Ghanaians and my lovely fans, Hard work pays, GodIsTheReason,” Afful posted on Instagram.

SWAG will be recognizing and celebrating the achievements of athletes in over 15 categories at their annual awards ceremony on Saturday.
