The Sports Writers Association of Ghana, SWAG has released additional list of names of personalities to receive special awards at this years Awards Night to be held on August two.
A statement issued by the association named the recipients as Nestle Ghana limited, NGK Financial Services limited, Mr Oko Nikoi Dzani, the Chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association and 70-year old marathoner, King Tony Akwetey.
Other award winners are Patrick Taylor (pictured) as the 2002 male hockey player of the year and Abena Amponsaa Asumeng-Addo, the 2002 female hockey player of the year.
The statement said Nestle Ghana limited, producers of Milo food drink, is being honoured for its contribution to the development and promotion of colts soccer, tennis and marathon; thus investing more than one billion cedis in 2002.
The SWAG also recognises the contribution of NGK Financial Services and Mr Nikoi Dzani, who is also the chief executive of the company, for the development and promotion of hockey in the country.
Both Abena Asumeng-Addo and Patrick Taylor emerged as the most outstanding hockey players last year while King Tony Akwetey is being honoured for breaking the age barrier and actively competing in the annual Accra Milo marathon for several year now.
In all, 18 individuals and organizations would be honoured at the 8th annual SWAG Awards Night. Ghana's Commonwealth Games bronze medallist and African heptathlete champion, Margaret Simpson tops the list of the award winners as Sportswoman of the Year and Athlete of the year.
