Mr Agyepong, also a football administrator, received his award at the 39th MTN SWAG Awards Night at the Banquet Hall of the State House last Saturday, May 17, 2014.

The SWAG acknowledged Mr Agyepong‘s philanthropic role in Ghana Sports that has brought tremendous relief to hitherto cash-strapped disciplines. From football to athletics, he has thrown a lifeline to many sports men and women.

Currently in the forefront of carrying Ghanaian soccer fans to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and other upcoming events in Canada, the United States of America and Scotland via the travel and tour business, he has given every indication of continuing with his good works.

Mr Kennedy Agyepong, a former Board Member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has for a long time thrown his weight behind events geared towards the upliftment of retired sports men and women.

Meanwhile, SWAG has presented a special award to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Elvis Afriyie Ankrah at a ceremony at his office in Accra.

A delegation led by Ambassador Ray Quarcoo, Patron, Ackah Anthony, President, and other Executives of SWAG presented the award in recognition for his sterling performance since he assumed office.

Anthony stated that the Association had been monitoring the official duties of the Minister and was proud of his commitment to ensuring the promotion and development of sports in Ghana.

“Your drive and passion for the upliftment of sports has seen you become the best Minister in recent times and we congratulate you on your achievements. “We wish you continue with your good works and SWAG would stand solidly with you in this regard,” Anthony said.

Hon Afriyie-Ankrah said he was humbled by the honour and the recognition by SWAG of his work, adding that he would continue to work diligently to achieve greater results.

The Minister stated that though his Ministry was not above criticism, the media should criticise constructively and see themselves as partners in the development of the nation.
