The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has nominated three players for the Premiership Player of the Year.
The trio includes Mahatma Otoo (Hearts of Oak), Yahaya Mohamed (Amidaus Professionals) and Michael Akuffu (Asante Kotoko).
A statement from the secretariat said the three players would vie for the award reserved for locally-based players after they distinguished themselves on the domestic front.
According to the statement, one of the three players would be presented with the coveted prize at the Awards Gala on Saturday, June 29 at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.
Otoo, the live-wire of Accra Hearts of Oak is the current top scorer in the premiership with 17 goals, whilst Mohamed, a midfielder is credited with 11 goals and has been an instrumental figure for the Tema-based club.
Akuffu has also played a key role in the performance of the Porcupine Warriors in their quest for the double this term.
Meanwhile, Samson B. Donkor, a member of the Women’s League Board will be honoured for his role in the development of Women’s Football in the country, whilst Paralympic athlete, Anita Fordjour will be honoured with a special award for her performance at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
Also, Promasidor Ghana Limited would also receive a special award for their role in the development of cycling in Ghana.
