Kumasi, April 18, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has projected to expand the number of participating teams for the H.P. Nyemitei Cup competition in the near future.
Mr. Ackah Anthony, President of SWAG who disclosed this in an interaction with newsmen in Kumasi on Friday, stated that his outfit intends to expand participating teams to four instead of the current two.
The interaction was to highlight the preparations being made by SWAG to ensure the successful organization of this year's Nyemitei Cup competition which would be played between Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC and Obuasi Ash-Gold Sporting Club at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.
Mr Anthony announced that the Association, as part of its efforts to expand the participating teams, was conferring with its sister Associations in the West African sub-region to find a possible way of inviting some teams from neighbouring countries to take part in future competitions.
The SWAG President urged the supporters of Kotoko and Ash-Gold as well as the players to comport themselves during the competition to ensure its success.
Meanwhile, the management of Ash-Gold has declared their resolve to win their match against Kotoko on Sunday in spite of the exit of their head Coach David Duncan who has secured a job in South Africa. Mohammed Gargo, care-taker coach of Ash-Gold who made the declaration, told the GNA Sports that the team was intact and morale in camp was high to enable them win the Nyemitei Cup.
