SWAG to launch 35th Awards Night on August 31

Accra, Aug. 22, GNA - The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) will launch the 35th Edition of its annual Awards Night on August 31, at the Media Center of the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra. A statement signed by William D. Ezah, acting General Secretary of SWAG said the event will be used to outdoor the official sponsors of the 2010 event, MTN Ghana, as well as other sponsors, donors and media partners of the event.

The 35th Awards Night will be held on September 4, at the Banquet Hall, State House Accra. The statement added that the official sponsors, MTN will make a presentation of a cheque for 35,000 GHC to the Association as the sponsorship package for the event after which there will be a formal signing ceremony between MTN and SWAG for the 35th edition of the event.

According to the statement, the Association will also announce the names of the nominees for the event and other activities planned for the night.

The nominees are outstanding sports personalities who excelled in the 2009 sporting season.

The SWAG is the most outstanding sporting event in Ghana, with unique characteristics of rewarding distinguished sports personalities in all sporting disciplines. There will be 23 distinguished sports personalities to be honoured on the Awards Night, which will be graced by all sporting personalities in the country.
