The family of the late goalkeeper Salifu Ansah has expressed disappointment over the official lack of empathy towards the burial rites of the ex-national star.
According to sources there was no official representation from either the GFA or the Sports ministry at Salifu Ansah?s funeral held a couple of weeks ago on his hometown Sekondi Takoradi.
A family spokesperson, Kate Ansah told Joy News that the states total lack of interest in the burial of Salifu Ansah indicated a non-appreciation of his selfless contribution to Ghanaian football.
?Even during the funeral none of the officials of the Ministry of Sports were there, it was only some old players of hearts and some well-wishers who were there to see us,? she says.
Speaking to the Media amidst pain, she says as a national hero, there was not even a national flag on his coffin.
?It was the late Offei Ansah who went for a Hearts of Oak flag and placed it on the coffin. So recently when I heard of Offei Ansah?s death on the radio and in the newspapers, I kept wondering why my brother was given such treatment,? she says.
That is why I have held this press conference to ask officials of the sports ministry, what exactly Salifu Ansah did to deserve this disgrace on both the deceased and his family,? she says.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Sports says it has released ?20 million to be given to the family of the former national star.
On the other hand, the GFA is also arguing that it directed its Western and Central regional football associations to present a cheque of ?1 million to the family.
The 45-year old Salifu Ansah died on April 19 in Takoradi after a short illness.
